The Heart That God Responds To – By Iwalola(Lola) Ademodi

Beloved, God sees our hearts and motives behind every action we take.

God doesn’t respond to noise.

He responds to hearts. Our heart posture.

Not to louder prayers.

Not to longer speeches.

Not to perfect words.

God listens for something deeper.

📌God Responds to The Broken Heart

When our heart is broken and we approach God,

Not polished, Not pretending, but shattered and being real about it.

This is the heart that finally stops performing, but become realistic about the situation at hand.

The one that says, “God, I can’t fix this.” I give it to you.

And that’s where He steps into the situation.

Psalms 34:18 AMP tells us…

“The Lord is near to the heartbroken and He saves those who are crushed in spirit (contrite in heart, truly sorry for their sin).”

📌God Responds toThe Repentant Heart

A repentant heart is

Not defensive.

Not justifying.

“A broken and contrite heart… you will not despise.” (Psalm 51:17)

Repentance isn’t guilt—it’s surrender.

It’s saying, “I was wrong. Your way is better.”

And heaven moves when pride falls.

📌God Responds toThe Humble Heart

A heart who is not prideful or arrogant or self-righteous.

One who does not elevate self above others.

Not entitled. Not demanding.

James 4:6 AMP tells us…

“But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, “God is opposed to the proud and haughty, but [continually] gives [the gift of] grace to the humble [who turn away from self-righteousness].”

You don’t impress God with status.

You meet Him at the ground.

Grace flows downhill.

📌The Faith-Filled Heart

Not seeing. Still believing.

“Without faith it is impossible to please God…” (Hebrews 11:6)

This is the heart that trusts even when prayers feel unanswered.

Not blind hope— but anchored confidence in who God is.

📌The Surrendered Heart

Not controlling. Not resisting.

Jesus, as he was being crucified surrendered and said in Luke 22:42…

“saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup [of divine wrath] from Me; yet not My will, but [always] Yours be done.”” – Luke 22:42 AMP

This is where Jesus won the battle— not on the cross first…

…but in surrender.

But here’s what we miss…

You can act broken.

You can sound humble.

You can talk faith.

But God sees the real condition in our hearts.

And still—He invites you closer.

Because the Gospel isn’t about perfect hearts.

It’s about dead hearts made alive through Jesus.

Sin hardened us.

Grace breaks us open.

The cross restores us.

So come as you are— but don’t stay as you are.

Let Him change your heart.

From scandal to grace — because Jesus rewrites everything.
