Beloved, the Bible doesn’t use the exact phrase “take God at his word,” but the concept is a core theme throughout scripture.
In Christianity, the Bible is considered the “Word of God,” and there is much to find about this topic in scripture.
The Bible is called the Word of God, meaning it can be considered a direct line of communication from the Lord, divinely inspired by the authors of the respective books.
Jesus Christ Himself is also called the Word of God. This concept is based on the belief that Jesus embodies God’s message to humanity.
According to the Gospel of John, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” – John 1:1.
This passage suggests that Jesus is not only a messenger of God’s word but that He is the very essence of that word.
Here are a few key verses that capture this idea perfectly
GOD DOES WHAT HE SAYS HE WILL DO
Whatever God promises, He makes come true.
Numbers 23:19 AMP tells us…
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken and will He not make it good and fulfill it?”
GOD IS RELIABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY.
Hebrews 10:23 AMP encourages us…
“Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word];”
We act in faith all the time when it comes to trusting what people say. How much more should we trust what God says and act.
Actions are based on beliefs. The same holds true in the supernatural realm. We believe that what God said is true. So we act on His Word—knowing that He is faithful and trustworthy and can be depended upon.
GOD KEEPS HIS WORD, SO SHOULD WE
Luke 11:28 AMP tells us…
“But He said, On the contrary, blessed (happy, favored by God) are those who hear the word of God and continually observe it.
THERE IS POWER IN GOD’S WORD
God’s Word is on an errand to fulfill and accomplish what God has spoken. It is on target.
We read in Isaiah 55:10-11 AMP…
“For as the rain and snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, Making it bear and sprout, And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater, [2 Cor 9:10] So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”
Without exception, every time Jesus’ words were believed and acted upon, the results were always miraculous.
The disciples had to learn that they could believe and act on what Jesus said, even when it seemed to contradict the circumstances.
For example, in Luke chapter 5, Jesus told Peter to let down the nets to catch fish. Peter initially protested because they had fished all night without catching anything. Nevertheless, Peter recognized the authority in Jesus’ words, so he acted on them. It seemed foolish, but he still obeyed.
The result was God’s miraculous abundance and provision—so much that they were astonished and had to have help from their partners on the shore to bring in all the fish!
There is a biblical principle in this for all of us. As we obey the Word of the Living God, we will experience abundant provision in our lives too.
HOW THEN SHOULD WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD?
Find scriptures that give God’s perspective on your need or condition..
Choose to believe God’s Word.
Then act on the promise and release the power of the Word into your life. (One way to act on a verse or passage is to speak it!) obedience.
Pray the Word of God.

NOW LET US PRAY
Great and mighty God, thank You for another day in life.
Thank You for blessing us with Your Word.
Thank You for the great faith we have in Your Word.
Lord, please help us to be doers of Your Word in obedience.
Father, Help us to trust in Your promises.
Lord, give us the mind of Christ to we can discern Your voice.
In the mighty and Holy name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
Have a blessed day ![]()
