Jesus Gave The Gift Of The Holy Spirit: Let Us Open The Gift! Let Us Get To Know Him A Bit – By Iwalola(Lola) Ademodi

πŸ“ŒAlong with God the Father and God the Son (Jesus Christ), God the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Godhead or the Trinity . He is described as Fully God.

πŸ“ŒThe Bible makes it very clear that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Godhead.

Genesis 1:26 tells us,

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ β€œThen God said, β€˜Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.’” Notice that God did not say, β€œLet Me make man.” The drama of creation required three distinct Actors playing three distinct parts; God was referring to Himself as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

πŸ“ŒThe Holy Spirit was present at creation with the other two members of the Trinity.

Genesis 1:2 NIV tells us,

πŸ‘‰πŸΎβ€œNow the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”

πŸ“ŒThe Holy Spirit was present at Jesus’ baptism.

John 1:33 AMP says:

πŸ‘‰πŸΎβ€œI did not recognize Him [as the Messiah], but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, β€˜He upon whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this One is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.”

πŸ“ŒLet us take a look at some scriptures that will perfectly illustrate the personality of the Holy Spirit:

πŸ‘‰πŸΎHe has a mind (see Romans 8:27).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎHe has a will (see 1 Corinthians 12:11).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎHe has emotions, such as love and joy (see Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎHe comforts us (see Acts 9:31).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ He speaks (see Hebrews 3:7);

*in fact, He speaks clearly (see 1 Timothy 4:1).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎHe teaches (see 1 Corinthians 2:13).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎHe can be made to feel sorrow (see Ephesians 4:30).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎHe can be insulted (see Hebrews 10:29).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎHe can be resisted (see Acts 7:51).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ He can be lied to (see Acts 5:1-11).

πŸ“ŒWhen Jesus was preparing to leave, He told His disciples in John 14:16-17 that:

πŸ‘‰πŸΎβ€œAnd I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessorβ€”Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you foreverβ€” the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.”

John 14:16-17 AMP

πŸ“ŒThe Holy Spirit’s desire is to be our closest friend, yet we have limited His involvement in our lives. The sad truth is we have inadvertently rejected the most fulfilling relationship available to us.

Personally, He is my best friend.

One of my favorite Christian Authors, John Bevere wrote:

πŸ“ŒFirst, there is virtually no Christian life without the Holy Spirit.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎWithout the Holy Spirit, Christianity is dry, monotonous, and mundane.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎWithout the Holy Spirit, our labor is draining and wearisome

πŸ‘‰πŸΎWithout the Holy Spirit, there is no fellowship with God.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThere is no revelation without the Holy Spirit

πŸ‘‰πŸΎIn fact, without the Spirit Scripture becomes lethal; for we are told, β€œthe letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” (2 Corinthians 3:6).

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ There is no vision without the Holy Spirit.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ There is no joy without Him.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ There is no peace without Him.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThere is no freedom without the Holy Spirit

πŸ‘‰πŸΎRemove the Holy Spirit from a church and one of two things will happen:

It will morph into a social club.

It will become a religious institution

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThe Holy Spirit is the means by whom the God the Father get His many works done here on earth according to scripture.

πŸ“ŒIn the Bible, “the finger of God” is a metaphorical phrase representing God’s power and direct intervention in human affairs, often used to signify a miraculous act beyond human capability.

πŸ“ŒThe Holy Spirit is called the finger of God in the scripture because He is the person in the God head who implements God’s commands and God’s work.

πŸ“ŒThe Holy Spirit does the following works:

πŸ‘‰πŸΎCreation and maintenance of the universe. (Genesis 1:2; Job 26:13; Psalm 104:30);

πŸ‘‰πŸΎDevine revelation (John 16:12-15; Ephesians 3:5; 2 Peter 1:21);

πŸ‘‰πŸΎSalvation (John 3:6; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:2);

πŸ‘‰πŸΎJesus’ works on earth were enabled by the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 61:1; Acts 10:38).

πŸ“ŒThe Bible describes the Holy Spirit as a person who dwells within believers,

πŸ‘‰πŸΎHe protects us, and transforms us.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThe Holy Spirit is also God’s advocate, pleading the case of Christians and all creation before God.

πŸ“ŒOther Roles of The Holy Spirit are that;

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThe Holy Spirit is a divine helper who teaches believers and comforts them.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThe Holy Spirit protects believers from having their salvation stolen.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThe Holy Spirit washes away sins and makes believers new.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThe Holy Spirit transforms believers into temples of God.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThe Holy Spirit intercedes for the needs of Christians and all creation.

πŸ“ŒHere are more Bible verses about the Holy Spirit

Matthew 28:19-20: Believers are baptized in the name of the Holy Spirit.

John 14:26: The Holy Spirit is described as a teacher and advocate.

John 16:13: The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of truth.

Romans 15:13: The Holy Spirit fills believers with joy and peace.

Galatians 5:22-23: The fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, and more.
