How To Make The Holy Spirit Your Number One Friend! – By Iwalola(Lola) Ademodi

Beloved, the Holy Spirit is not meant to be someone you only remember when you need an answer, a breakthrough, or direction. He wants fellowship with you.

📌Friendship with the Holy Spirit means becoming conscious of His presence at all times, learning His ways, listening when He speaks, and allowing Him to become involved in the ordinary parts of your life.

Personally, I rely on interacting with Him for all that concerns me.

The more you relate with Him, the more natural His presence becomes to you.

📌TALK TO HIM THROUGHOUT YOUR DAY

Friendship grows through communication. You don’t have to wait until you are in a prayer meeting to acknowledge the Holy Spirit.

Talk to Him while you are working, travelling, cooking, making decisions, or simply sitting quietly. Invite Him into the details of your day.

📌PRAY AND ASK HIM TO HELP YOU LISTEN AS MUCH AS YOU SPEAK.

A friendship where only one person talks is not much of a friendship.

Prayer should not always be you presenting requests.

Give yourself moments of stillness. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you, correct you, guide you, and make you sensitive to His “voice”

📌DO NOT IGNORE HIS CONVICTION

One of the ways friendship with the Holy Spirit deepens is through obedience.

When He brings something to your attention, don’t repeatedly silence the conviction.

If He is correcting your attitude, your words, your relationships, or your choices, respond.

Obedience to Him makes you more sensitive, while continually resisting conviction can make your heart less responsive.

📌INVITE HIM INTO YOUR DECISION MAKING

Before making decisions, especially important ones, develop the habit of seeking His direction. Let Him lead, guide and direct you.

Do not only ask, “What do I want?” Ask, “Holy Spirit, what is Your wisdom for this?” What is Your will?

Sometimes His direction will agree with what you wanted, and sometimes it will challenge it.

📌SPEND TIME WITH GOD WHEN YOU DO NOT NEED ANYTHING: CULTIVATE A HABIT OF BEING STILL IN HIS PRESENCE.

This is one of the clearest signs of genuine friendship.

Do not only seek the Holy Spirit when you need something. Spend time with Him simply because you desire God.

Worship without asking for anything.

Read Scripture without immediately turning it into a request.

Sit quietly and enjoy communion with Him.

Personally, I yearn to spend time with God.

📌BECOME FAMILIAR WITH WHAT PLEASES HIM

The closer you become to someone, the more you learn what they value.

The same happens spiritually. You begin becoming sensitive to what grieves the Holy Spirit and what brings you into alignment with God.

Your choices begin changing, not because someone is watching you, but because your relationship with Him matters to you.

📌TAKE HIS PROMPTINGS (NUDGING) SERIOUSLY

Sometimes the Holy Spirit may bring someone to your mind and you feel prompted to pray for them or encourage them.

Sometimes you may sense that you should remain silent or reconsider a decision.

Do not treat every thought as a divine instruction, but learn to test genuine promptings through Scripture, wisdom, prayer, and their fruit.

📌DO NOT REPLACE HIM WITH PEOPLE

People are important, but no human being can take the place of the Holy Spirit.

There will be moments when nobody understands what you are experiencing, yet you can still turn to Him.

Learn to seek His comfort before constantly running to people for reassurance.

📌BE HONEST WITH HIM

You do not have to pretend before God.

Tell Him when you are confused, disappointed, afraid, angry, or tired. Friendship requires honesty.

The Holy Spirit already knows what is happening inside you, so bring it into His presence rather than hiding behind religious language. It’s like talking to a best friend about your personal issues.

📌LET THE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT CHANGE YOU

The greatest evidence that the Holy Spirit has become your closest companion is not how often you talk about Him. It is how much your life begins to reflect His work in and through you.

You become more loving, patient, discerning, truthful, self controlled, humble, and obedient.

Eventually, you stop treating the Holy Spirit like an emergency contact whom you call only when life falls apart.

👉🏾You begin walking with Him.

👉🏾You consult Him.

👉🏾You listen to Him.

👉🏾You trust Him.

👉🏾You obey Him.

👉🏾You enjoy His presence.

👉🏾And you become conscious that He is not only present in your prayer room. He is with you in your ordinary life.

That is what it means to make the Holy Spirit your number one friend.
