THE COMFORTER’S ROOM DEVOTIONAL FOR TUESDAY – 9/29/2026
Acts 15:8-9 AMP tells us…
“And God, who knows and understands the heart, testified to them, giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us; and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith [in Jesus].”
God purifies our hearts through a combination of His divine grace, the cleansing power of Jesus’ sacrifice, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the refining trials He allows in our lives.
The finished work of Christ and faith.
the blood of Jesus(human effort alone can’t wash away sin; but the shed blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:7 AMP tells us…
“but if we [really] walk in the Light [that is, live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God], as He Himself is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another [He with us, and we with Him], and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin [by erasing the stain of sin, keeping us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].”
purifying by faith(God purifies our hearts by faith, and believing in Christ and trusting His sacrifice act as the gateway to spiritual cleansing(Acts 15:9).
The role of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word.
refining trials(God often uses difficult seasons and tests to bring hidden impurities like anger, doubt, or divided loyalties to the surface
Romans 5:3-5 AMP tells us…
“And not only this, but [with joy] let us exult in our sufferings and rejoice in our hardships, knowing that hardship (distress, pressure, trouble) produces patient endurance; and endurance, proven character (spiritual maturity); and proven character, hope and confident assurance [of eternal salvation]. Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
yielding to submission(when we surrender and trust God during these trials, He melts away our stubbornness, heals our spiritual wounds, and deepens our love for Him(Matthew 5:8).
Matthew 5:8 AMP
“Blessed [anticipating God’s presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God. [Ps 24:3, 4]”
Our active response.
drawing near (while God is the one who does the purifying, we participate by humbling ourselves, confessing our faults, and choosing to draw near to Him in obedience.
James 4:8 AMP
“Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people].”
NOW LET US PRAY
Great and Mighty God, thank You for the blessings of a new day.
Thank You Holy Spirit, for helping us to purify our hearts as only You can.
Thank You, Lord Jesus for Your sacrifice on the cross to cleanse and purify our hearts.
Help us, Holy God to submit and surrender toYou completely.
Father, protect us in our going and coming throughout this day.
