💔 DON’T LET WHAT THEY DID TO YOU BECOME WHAT YOU CARRY

Some wounds are not easy to forgive.

Sometimes the person who hurt you never apologized. Sometimes they never admitted what they did. Sometimes the memory still hurts, even years later.

And yet, as believers, Scripture gives us a command that reaches deeper than our feelings:

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

— Ephesians 4:32 KJV

Notice what Paul does not say.

He does not say that what happened was acceptable.

He does not say that the hurt was imaginary.

He does not say that forgiveness means pretending nothing happened.

He points us to something greater:

“EVEN AS GOD FOR CHRIST’S SAKE HATH FORGIVEN YOU.”

We forgive because we have been forgiven.

That doesn’t mean every relationship must immediately be restored or that wisdom and appropriate boundaries are unnecessary. Forgiveness and reconciliation are not always the same thing. You can release bitterness without placing yourself back into an unhealthy situation.

But don’t allow someone else’s sin to take permanent residence in your heart. 💔

Paul says:

“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another…”

— Ephesians 4:31–32 KJV

Forgiveness is not saying, “What they did was right.”

It is saying, “I will not allow what they did to control my heart.”

And when you struggle to forgive, remember the cross.

The same Christ who commands us to forgive is the One who willingly bore our sins.

“Even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”

— Colossians 3:13 KJV

✝️ LOOK AT WHAT CHRIST HAS FORGIVEN YOU OF. THEN ASK GOD FOR THE GRACE TO FORGIVE OTHERS.

❤️ AND TO THE ONE WHO HAS NEVER TRUSTED CHRIST…

Before you can truly understand the forgiveness offered by God, you need to hear the Gospel.

The Gospel is not that you can make yourself worthy before God.

It is that Christ did for you what you could never do for yourself.

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 KJV

Christ died for our sins.

He was buried.

He rose again the third day.

That is the Gospel.

Trust in Christ and His finished work rather than trusting in your own goodness, religion, or works.

Forgiveness toward others does not save us. Christ saves us.

And for those who are already in Christ, don’t keep carrying what God is calling you to release.

The wound may have been real.

The pain may have been deep.

But bitterness does not have to be your home.

🕊️ Forgive as Christ forgave you.
