Things We Are Carrying That God Wants Us To Let Go Of – By Iwalola(Lola) Ademodi

📌Beloved, because of His intense love for us, there are things that God wants us to let go of in our lives, knowing they may cause us to stumble.

God wants us to TRUST Him with these things.

Jesus Christ invites us to give Him our burdens in Matthew 11:28

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation].”

It is spiritual maturity to let go of things that God wants us to let go

It is our fleshly desire that tempts us to want to control everything in our lives.

The honest truth is that God is ultimately in control of everything. Not you and I.

Proverbs 3:5 tells us…

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

Holding on to fear and anxieties about the future exposes our lack of trust in God’s character and His promises.

In fact, fear is a tool in the hand of the enemy of our souls to manipulate believers is Christ. It leads to sin.

Jesus Christ said in Matthew 6:34…

“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

When we confess our sins to God, and ask for forgiveness, which leads us to repentance, God in His mercy forgives us.

“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Also, in Romans 8:1, we are told …

“Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]. [John 3:18]”

We all have reasons to hold grudges. People wrong us. Situations hurt us.

For some, God does not always do what we think He should do, so we get offended and angry.

We hold offenses against those who have wronged us, and often against God who we think should have done things differently.

A grudge is nothing more than a refusal to forgive. So, since this tendency is inherent in all of us and seemingly unavoidable, what does the Bible say about it?

God has such a strong concern about grudges that He included a specific command about them when He gave the Law to the Israelites.

Leviticus 19:18 tells us…

“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.”

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?

If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

The Word of God warns that the “fear of man” (worrying about what others think) is a trap, but trusting in God brings safety.

Proverbs 29:25 AMP tells us…

“The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in and puts his confidence in the Lord will be exalted and safe.”

Sometimes God wants to remove us from relationships that may cause us to stumble.

Such relationships must be put behind us and move forward to let go and leave things in God’s hands.

The Word of God instructs us to forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

“Do not remember the former things, Or ponder the things of the past.” – Isaiah 43:18 AMP
