~ A WALK ORDERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
Beloved, to “walk in the Spirit” means to live a life empowered and guided by the Holy Spirit, as instructed in the Word of God.
Galatians 5:16 AMP tells us;
”But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].”
The key phrase here is “walk habitually”.
We are to make it a habit to choose walking with the Spirit.
Also, Galatians 5:25 AMP says;
“If we [claim to] live by the [Holy] Spirit, we must also walk by the Spirit [with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage—our conduct empowered by the Holy Spirit].”
We are to throw off all hindrances, sin and bad habits and anything that would prevent us from walking with the Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 12:1-2 AMP instructs us:
”Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness],
stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us,
let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us, [looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity],
who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work].”
We are to spend time with God on a daily basis instead of investing in fleshly things.
Galatians 6:8 AMP encourages us:
”For the one who sows to his flesh [his sinful capacity, his worldliness, his disgraceful impulses] will reap from the flesh ruin and destruction, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”
We are to become a living sacrifice.
Romans 12:1-2 AMP further admonished :
”Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice,
holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.
And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs],
but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes],
so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”
We are to pray continually in the spirit. Allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us into fervent prayers.
Jude 1:20 AMP encourages:
”But you, beloved, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit,”
We are to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and obey Him
John 10:4 AMP encourages
”When he has brought all his own sheep outside, he walks on ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice and recognize his call”
NOW LET US PRAY
Mighty God, we honor You for Your Holy Spirit.
Lord, we need You help in order for us to walk in the spirit.
Jesus only You can empower us to sacrifice our fleshly desires in order to walk in the Spirit.
Holy Spirit, I pray that You lead us into fervent prayers continually.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen
