The phrase “Wise Men Still Seek Him” is detailed from the Bible, Matthew 2:1-12 ( read).
The scriptures do not explain to us the extent of their understanding about Jesus’ identity, or the means by which they were led by the star.
All we know is that they recognized this star as the sign of the birth of the king of the Jews. This was sufficient motivation for them to follow it in order to worship this new king.
The wise men were the first Gentiles to visit Jesus Christ after his birth in Bethlehem.
Their search for Jesus and their response to finding him illustrate the essence of true wisdom, which every Christian should emulate.
The promise of scripture is that if we seek God, we will find Him, and when we find Him, we will find eternal life.
Unlike the wise men who sought the birthplace of the Savior, we do not have to undertake a lengthy journey to a foreign land in order to find God.
It is God’s utmost desire that we should seek Him!
He promised that those who seek Him will find Him.
“Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. ” – Jeremiah 29:13 AMP
What does seeking the Lord looks like in the life of a believer in Christ?
Seeking should be a life style for the believer in Christ.
It is a conscious effort. We have to CHOOSE to seek Him.
“To seek God” means to actively and intentionally search for a deeper connection with God through;
Prayers, cultivating a vibrant prayer life
Studying the Word of God
Meditating on the Word of God.
Obeying the Word of God by putting His Word into actions.
Essentially aiming to find His presence and guidance in one’s life;
It implies a conscious effort to understand and align oneself with God’s will.
It means making the glory of God the purpose for our lives in all that we do on a daily basis.
1 Corinthians 10:31 AMP tells us “So then, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of [our great] God.” –
Beloved, Our time on earth is limited. Therefore seeking God is a priority in our lives.
Isaiah 55:6) says “Seek the LORD while he may be found; �call upon him while he is near.
Seeking God is a “setting of the mind and heart” on Him.
It is the conscious fixing or focusing of our mind’s attention and our heart’s affection on God.
Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God. (1 Chronicles 22:19)
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:1–2)
BENEFITS FOR SEEKING GOD
“But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6 AMP
Here are some of the rewards for seeking Him.
When you seek God you will find Him (Genesis 15:1)
You receive answers to your prayers (Luke 1:13-14)
You walk in provision (Psalm 34:10)
You walk in blessings (Psalm 119:2)
You have hope (Lamentations 3:26)
You walk in understanding and insights (Psalm 73:1-17)
My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, LORD, I will seek… I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD” (Psalm27:8, 13-14).
We enjoy His continuous presence when we find Him.
The Bible repeatedly calls us to “seek the Lord . . . seek his presence continually” (Psalm 105:4).
NOW LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus, just like the wise men, give us the desire and wisdom to seek You.
We want to seek You so that we can find You.
Help us to make seeking You a priority in our daily life.
Give us the grace to cultivate a vibrant prayer life.
Help us to study and meditate on Your Word diligently.
Lead us into sweet fellowship with You as we enjoy Your continuous presence.
