WHO IS GUIDING YOU? ~ A question every believer should answer with clarity.
Some will respond with, “What a nonsensical question is that?” As a Christian, of course, God is guiding me. But is He?
Consider that question and be honest with yourself. You may think, I’m a Christian, so I guess Jesus is. But perhaps you know that is not necessarily true. Just because we’ve been saved and baptized doesn’t mean Christ is directing our life.
Indeed, there are many things that may be driving us.
The need for acceptance,
The need to take control
Not knowing our worth, respect
The need for possessions
Insecurity, tradition, losses,
Pride in ourselves and accomplishments
The list goes on. Even the need for survival in difficult circumstances can shape how we respond to this question.
The truth is God is always ready to guide us,
Proverbs 16:9 tells us “A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.”
God also promised to guide us …
Psalms 32:8 AMP tells:” I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you [who are willing to learn] with My eye upon you”
Isaiah 30:21 AMP says : “Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or the left.”
Whenever we feel lost or in need of guidance, we should meditate on God’s Word on how to proceed. We are to trust Him to make our paths straight and smooth…removing obstacles that block our way.
Proverbs 3:5-7 AMP “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways, know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord [with reverent awe and obedience] and turn [entirely] away from evil. [Prov 8:13]”
We either let the Lord Jesus guide us, or we would go in the wrong direction. Allowing Christ to lead is a deliberate decision we must make for ourselves—we must choose to submit to His instruction, even when it appears contrary to human reason. But following Jesus is always the right choice. He is the One who consistently leads you in the best way possible, in this life and in view of the life to come.
LET US PRAY
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the promise of guidance found in Your Word. As we journey through life, I pray that Your Spirit would lead us, and Your wisdom illuminate our path. Help us to trust in Your plans, seeking Your counsel in every decision. Guide us, Lord, towards the destiny You have prepared for us. Jesus, we want You to lead, guide and direct us. Search us and reveal what needs and attitudes control us, then teach us how to follow You wholeheartedly. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
