In a world that seems progressively unstable and insecure, I am led to give you some encouragement from the Word of God about these issues.
We are told in Psalm 125:1-2 that…
“Those who trust in and rely on the Lord [with confident expectation] Are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but remains forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the Lord surrounds His people From this time forth and forever.”
WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WITH STABILITY AND SECURITY?
Our text today says “Those who trust in and rely on the Lord [with confident expectation]
WHAT IS THE STABILITY?
Again, our text says…they are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but remains forever.” I don’t know about you, but to be compared to an immovable mountain is STABILITY if we believe this truth and trust the Lord.
WHERE IS THE SECURITY?
Verse 2 of our text says…Just as the mountains surround and protect the city of Jerusalem, so the Lord with His own personal presence surrounds and protects His people.” No evil can come to us that does not pass through the Lord, for He surrounds those who trust in Him just as the mountains surround Jerusalem. This is ULTIMATE SECURITY if I have ever seen one.
The world craves these two things and seeks them in various ways but does not ever find them in a true or abiding form. But there is a place of stability and security believers who trust and rely on God.
LET US PRAY
Jehovah God, thank You for giving us Your comforting Word through the Psalmist. Thank You for the STABILITY and assurance that those of us who trust and rely on You are like Mount Zion that cannot be moved. Thank You for the SECURITY that we have in You surrounding us as the mountains surround Jerusalem. Thank You for loving us so. Give us the grace to live our lives to be worthy of being Your people. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen
