🌺The story of David and Goliath is a very popular one that most of us have heard in our formative years in Sunday Schools.

🌺The nation of Israel had a very tough battle to fight against the 9 foot tall, Philistine giant, Goliath, who had taunted and harassed the children of Israel for a while.

🌺David, a teenage shepherd boy, managed to convince King Saul that he was capable of fighting and winning the battle against the Philistine giant who not only seemed to be strong and powerful, but ten times his size.

πŸ“’David told Saul in 1 Samuel 17:36-37 AMP

β•οΈβ€œYour servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has taunted and defied the armies of the living God.”

πŸ“’1 Samuel 17:37 AMP

β•οΈβ€œDavid said, β€œThe Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, β€œGo, and may the Lord be with you.””

πŸ‘‰πŸΎAnd Saul said to David, β€œGo, and may the Lord be with you.””

🌺You must cultivate a victory mindset in your thoughts, not because of you are but because of who God is.

🌺David went into the battle not to “try” but to enforce victory. He trusted God.

🌺He saw Goliath not as an undefeatable giant, but as someone already defeated before God.

“The battle is the Lord’s” (1 Samuel 17:47).

🌺David’s confidence was not in his skill but in his covenant walk with God.

🌺He had killed lions and bears in secret because of God’s help, so he was sure God would show up in public.

πŸ“’Daniel 11:32 AMP tells us…

β•οΈβ€œWith smooth words [of flattery and praise] he will turn to godlessness those who [are willing to] disregard the [Mosaic] covenant, but the people who [are spiritually mature and] know their God will display strength and take action, do exploits [to resist].”

🌺Yes, “Those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits.”

🌺David did not fight to prove himself but to defend God’s name.

🌺When your motive is to glorify God, He takes over the battle because it’s no longer your battle, it becomes His.

πŸ“’We read in 1 Samuel 17:45-47 AMP…

β•οΈβ€œThen David said to the Philistine,

πŸ‘‰πŸΎβ€œYou come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThis day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that this entire assembly may know that the Lord does not save with the sword or with the spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will hand you over to us.””

🌺David killed Goliath with a sling of stone, and cut off his head.

πŸ“’1 Samuel 17:48-51 AMP

β•οΈβ€œWhen the Philistine rose and came forward to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎDavid put his hand into his bag and took out a stone and slung it, and it struck the Philistine on his forehead.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎThe stone penetrated his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎSo David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck down the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David’s hand.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎSo he ran and stood over the Philistine, grasped his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their [mighty] champion was dead, they fled.”

🌺God will fight our battles when we are dependent on Him.
