The Word of God tells us in Hebrews 6:19-20 AMP that “This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it]—a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells], [Lev 16:2] where Jesus has entered [in advance] as a forerunner for us, having become a High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”
My personal experience is that when I put my UNDILUTED HOPE IN GOD, especially in difficult situations, I have watched God respond to my HOPE IN HIM with HIS BOLD faithfulness.
Our sister-in-Christ, Joyce Meyer, in an article defined HOPE-IN-GOD as…”HOPE in God IS A NOTHING-IS-IMPOSSIBLE-WITH-GOD firestorm or posture, REFUSING TO BE QUENCHED.”
It is an awareness that there is no problem big enough to keep God from rescuing us.
Personally, I would define HOPE-IN-GOD is the POWERFUL engine behind our ability to endure and persevere, especially in difficult situations. For me, It is based on trusting God’s character.
Psalm 27:14 (AMPC) says, Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.
With everything going on around us, it’s easy to be worn out by hopelessness. People lose hope when they experience overwhelming loss, repeated failures, impossible situations, or are hurt by people they trust.
Nowadays, depression is at epidemic level in our society, most of which (not all) are due to feelings of hopelessness.
ANTICIPATE GOOD.
The Word of God in Romans 8:28 AMP gives us reason to be hopeful in God. It reads: “And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.”
Hope is a positive expectation that something good is going to happen to you because of God’s great goodness.
Hope is not a wishy-washy, vague, wait-and-see attitude, but an action we must choose to take on purpose each day. Hope and faith go hand in hand. Hope also enables us to endure hardships and long waiting periods, and God uses these times to develop character and endurance in us.
Isaiah 40:31 (AMPC) tells us: But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him/ shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
Regardless of who you are or what condition your life is in, you can’t function successfully without hope in God. If circumstances are bad, you surely need hope. And if they are good, you need hope that they will stay that way.
Hope energizes and motivates us to take action by causing us to step out in faith and act in obedience to God’s Word. Hope believes boldly, decides daringly, speaks firmly, and perseveres passionately.
When we embrace hope on purpose, it influences our thoughts, our attitudes, our outlook, and the way we speak. Hope builds us up as we wait on God. It releases joy, and the joy of the Lord becomes our source of strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
Hope is exciting because we have a part to play.
You don’t have to sit back, just waiting for an answer to fall from the sky. You can take your hopes to God, ask Him for His wisdom, and then take real and practical steps toward your goal.
LET US PRAY
Holy God: Thank You for this day in life. Thank You for giving us the ability to put our hope in You, a God who never fails. Lord, I bring my hopes and dreams to You. I choose to follow Your lead, because I know You know me, want what’s best for me, and have the best plan I could ever follow for my life. Thank You for Your promise that no matter what things may look like, my hope isn’t lost, and because of You, my future is filled with good! In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
