Ephesians 6:12 tells us that our battle is not against flesh and blood.
Beloved, the battle of our day is not with flesh and blood, but with the “spirit world” and is not on the body, but on the minds of people.
In order to understand this better, we must understand the trinity of man after the fall of Adam.
After the fall of man, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, the state of humanity was quite bleak to say the least. Humanity was separated from the creator who loved us unconditionally. Sin entered our world.
Sin entered because Eve believed the lies that were told to her by the serpent ( Satan).
Ephesians 2:1 tells us “And you [He made alive when you] were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of your transgressions and sins,” Spiritual death.
Our body is also dying
Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:31 AMP “I assure you, believers, by the pride which I have in you in [your union with] Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily [I face death and die to self].”
The Mind life is darkened because of sin.
2 Corinthians 4:4 AMP tells us “among them the god of this world [Satan] has blinded the minds of the unbelieving to prevent them from seeing the illuminating light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
THE POWER OF THE MIND…Prov. 23:7
The mind is the entrance to the soul.
The mind is the battleground for Satan and God.
The mind is the place decisions are made for either good or evil…. You think, then act, or refuse to act.
Proverbs 23:7 AMP tells us “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior…]
THE PROBLEMS OF OUR MINDS
The carnal mind(controlled by the flesh) is open and available to suggestions from the enemy of our souls, Satan himself using anything and anyone to influence and pull the mind away from God’s will for our lives by erecting strongholds( a pattern of thinking that is against the knowledge of God)
On the other hand, the mind of a believer in Christ that is submitted to and influenced by the Holy Spirit give us victory by destroying the strongholds erected by the enemy.
THE GUARDING OF THE MIND…God has equipped us in His Word on how we can guard our mind in..
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 AMP tells us how we can wage the war against thoughts from the enemy of our soul, Satan.
“For though we walk in the flesh [as mortal men],
we are not carrying on our [spiritual] warfare according to the flesh and using the weapons of man.
The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood].
Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses(Strongholds).
We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and
we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ, being ready to punish every act of disobedience, when your own obedience [as a church] is complete.”
The Warfare….vs.3
The Weapons…vs. 4,
The Winning…vs. 4-7.
There must be a:
pulling down…vs. 4
casting down…vs. 5
bringing down…vs. 5
putting down…vs. 6
WE CAN ENJOY PEACE OF MIND….Phil. 4:4-9
Philippians 4:4-9 AMP tells us;
“Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, take pleasure in Him]; again I will say, rejoice!
Let your gentle spirit [your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience] be known to all people.
The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.
And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].
Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, THINK continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].
The things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things [in daily life], and the God [who is the source] of peace and well-being will be with you.”
Our position must be realized…vs. 4
Our prayers must be right….vs. 5-7
Our perception must be restricted…vs. 8-9
THE PROTECTION FOR THE MIND…Isaiah . 26:3
Isaiah 26:3-4 AMP tells us how God protects the minds of those who focus on Him.
“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character],
Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].
“Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner], For the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].”
The source of our protection….”You will keep him in perfect peace”
The scope of our protection….”You will keep in perfect peace”
The secret of our protection….”Those whose mind is stayed on Him….”
NOW LET US PRAY
Holy God, Father we praise You for yet another day in life.
Thank You for helping us fighting the battle of the mind
Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who helps us demolish strongholds erected by the enemy on our minds.
Help us to trust You with our thoughts and submit everything to You.
Lord, help us to capture every thought for Christ.
Glory to Your name, Lord for the deliverance of our minds from the oppression of the enemy.
Lord, Protect us from any and all attacks of the enemy.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen
