Safe And Stable Shelter In God – By Iwalola(Lola) Ademodi

David’s prayer in Psalm 61 showcases his trust in God as his refuge and shelter. As we explore this passage, may we find comfort and security in God’s presence.

🌺The SUPPLICATION to God

*verses 1&7, (David PRAYS to God, seeking PROTECTION for a long life)

“Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.”

🌺The SUSTENANCE of God

*verse 2a, (acknowledging his FAINT heart, he put his FAITH to God)

“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint.”

🌺The SAFETY from God

*verse 2b, (God is a ROCK, symbolizes safety REFUGE)

“Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

🌺The SECURITY from God

*verse 3, (God is like a strong ESTABLISHMENT, safe from the ENEMIES)

“For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.”

🌺. The SHELTER in God

*verse 4, (David longs to dwell in God’s TABERNACLE forever, TAKING refuge in His presence)

“I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.”

🌺. The STRETCHING of God

*verse 6, (CONCERNING his life to be God’s CHANNEL of blessings)

“Increase the days of the king’s life, his years for many generations.”

🌺. The SWEARING to God

*verses 5&8, (he PROMISED to sing PRAISE to God’s name and fulfill his vows daily)

“For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. Then will I ever sing praise to your name and fulfill my vows day after day.”

Our need for shelter is not only physical but also spiritual. With God as our refuge, we can experience stability, safety, and prosperity. May we, like David, find comfort and security in God’s presence.
