~ A meditation on Zachariah 4:6
ZECHARIAH 4:6 AMP
“Then he said to me,
“This [continuous supply of oil] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel [prince of Judah], saying,
‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of whom the oil is a symbol],’ says the Lord of hosts.”
In Zechariah 4:6 (“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts”) means that the rebuilding of the Jerusalem temple,
and in fact all of God’s work, will not be accomplished through human strength, military force, or resources,
but solely through the divine power and enablement of the Holy Spirit.
God assures Zerubbabel that the immense obstacles and opposition to the temple project will be overcome by His Spirit, not by human effort or capability.
The life lessons for us from this verse are:
Surrender Releases God’s Power (4:6b)
When we stop depending on ourselves
We experience God’s enabling Spirit and power
Surrender Aligns Us With God’s Will (4:6a)
We gain divine direction
We avoid wasted effort
Surrender Sustains Us in Trials (4:6)
We find peace in God’s control
We endure with supernatural strength

NOW LET US PRAY
Most holy God, thank You that You are a God to whom we can depend on.
Holy Spirit of the living God, lead us to depend on the Triune God .
Help us Lord Jesus to surrender in obedience to Your will.
Lord, abide with us always.
In Jesus Chris’s most powerful name I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
