One of the most important promises that God gave to believers in Christ is the gift of eternal life.
JESUS CAME TO GIVE US ETERNAL LIFE
We are told in John 3:16 that “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
Jesus Christ said in John 6:51 that “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
JESUS CAME TO RECEIVE WORSHIP.
From the prediction of his birth until his death, against all odds Jesus Christ was worshipped.
”Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:1-2
JESUS CAME TO BRING GREAT JOY TO ALL PEOPLE
”And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” Luke 2:10
On top of this promise, Jesus’ ministry was filled with bringing joy to people’s lives. He healed people, turned water into wine, and brought people back to life. Jesus himself was a joyful person, and he exemplified happiness and well-being for most of his life.
We are also promised that the joy of the Lord is our strength. Nehemiah 8:10
JESUS CAME TO DEMONSTRATE TRUE HUMILITY
Although He is one of the Triune God, Jesus Christ made himself a pure example of humility.
Philippians 2:5-8 tells us “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
JESUS CAME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL
Jesus started His earthly ministry at the age of 30. At which point He started preaching about the kingdom of God everywhere He went.
…Jesus went to Galilee, preaching the good news of [the kingdom of] God,” – Mark 1:14 AMP
”The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.” Luke 4:18-19.
JESUS CAME TO BRING JUDGMENT INTO THE WORLD
Jesus came to establish judgement into the world. He is not blind to the wickedness of humanity.
Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” Some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt;but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains.” John 9:39-41
