What does it mean for us believers?
What do you do when you get into a fight? Not a physical fight, but the kind of fight that Daniel got into when he prayed for 21 days. It’s the kind of fight that Jesus found himself in when He was fasting for 40 days and 40 nights. Those are real fights.
In Exodus 17, Moses and Joshua found themselves in a fight against Amalek.
However, this fight, although physical, was to be won or lost through prayer. The outcome of this fight was to be determined by prayer.
Exodus 17:11-13 (AMP) says,
“11 Now when Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and when he lowered his hand [due to fatigue], Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands were heavy and he grew tired. So they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so it was that his hands were steady until the sun set. 13 So Joshua overwhelmed and defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.”
During the last fight you were in,
did you consider raising up your hands?
During the fight you are currently in,
have you considered raising up your hands?
When it comes to any fight that you will face in the future,
will you consider raising up your hands and acknowledging
God in the midst of a difficult situation?
When a man or woman of God raises up their hands in a battle, in a spiritual battle, they are surrendering the fight to the Lord.
Exodus 14:14 (NKJV) says, “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
What does that tell you? It tells you that the battle is not yours! This battle you face should be fought with hands raised in prayer, because it’s a battle that you are surrendering to a higher authority!
Raising your hands in thanksgiving and praise is another key to victory in a battle.
Ask Paul and Silas. They’ll tell you all about how raised hands in worship and praise can invoke the mighty power of God!
Psalm 150:6 (NIV) commands,
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.” Worship the Lord today. Give Him your praise and your adoration.
Give thanks for all that He has done, for all that He is doing, and in faith, for all that He will do.
NOW LET US PRAY
Heavenly Father,
I thank You for Your protection. I praise You for Your goodness. I pray that Your presence will always surround me. May Your divine peace always be found in my mind and in my heart. I lay my burdens at Your feet Lord Jesus. I pray that the Holy Spirit would help me not to let the worries and cares of this world to pull me down.
Help me not to hold on to anything painful from the past. I pray that you would give me peace and take away every unsettling thing. Give me joy and remove everything that troubles my heart.
In those moments when I feel low, or even if I am disappointed, may You lift my burdens and give me strength.
I worship You, King Jesus, because when I’m in need, You are my provider. You’re the rock of all ages, my stronghold, and my fortress. You are my source of joy and strength when I am discouraged, tired, and weary. I know I can always find comfort in You. Renew my strength, as I look to You, Lord Jesus. I invite Your presence because only in You can I find a deep sense of peace.
I look to You Lord. I look to You for guidance, for direction and instruction. I will not lean on my own understanding, because I am limited. Instead, I will lean on Your Word and trust that it will be a lamp to my feet.
Your Word in Isaiah 43:2 (NIV) says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
In Your Word, I place my confidence, Lord.
In Your Word, I place my hope and faith for tomorrow.
I’m grateful for Your protection, for Your provision in my life, Lord Jesus.
Thank You for the amazing grace that is over me and my family. You are a God who has been faithful throughout the ages and I praise You.
Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your faithfulness.
Thank You for being my light, even in the darkest of times.
I thank You for being the solid rock that I can stand on whenever I feel as though I am sinking in this world. I praise You for being the Good Shepherd that guides me daily.
Lord Jesus, at this time, I ask for joy. I pray for supernatural joy that comes only from You, Lord, so that I may not be disheartened when things don’t go my way.
Help me not to be discouraged by the disappointments of life, but rather, let the joy of the Lord be my strength.
I pray that the Holy Spirit would help me to focus on You, Lord Jesus, and not my problems.
Holy Spirit, help me to worship instead of worry, to rejoice rather than to fall into despair.
I praise You, Lord Jesus, for Your love is unending. My faith is assured because of You. My faith is anchored in You, for You have control over all things.
Thank You for being a refuge and strong tower, a very present help in times of trouble. Be glorified,
Lord.
Lord, be present with us at all times throughout this week, and manifest Your glory in all our lives In Jesus’ most precious name I pray, Amen
