One of the best things about thankfulness is that the more we choose it, the easier it gets.
The more we profess gratitude, the more we notice things to be grateful for. The thankfulness muscles respond to exercise!
Today, we will do a survey of thanksgiving in the Old Testament.
Here are some Old Testament thankfulness verses:
With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord:
Ezra 3:11 declares that “ He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.”And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.
Psalm 7:17 says “I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.”
Psalm 9:1 says “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
Psalm 35:18 “I will give you thanks in the great assembly;
among the throngs I will praise you.”
Psalm 69:30 declares “I will praise God’s name in song
and glorify him with thanksgiving.”
Psalm 95:1-3 invites us;
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
Psalm 100:4-5 commands;
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 106:1 declares “Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Psalm 107:21-22 declares;
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
Let them sacrifice thank offerings
and tell of his works with songs of joy.
Psalm 118:1 invites us to “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
Psalm 147:7 encourages us to “Sing to the Lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.”
Daniel 2:23 declares;
I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king.
When the peace of Christ rules in our hearts, thankfulness overflows. Even in the darkest of times, we can praise God for his love, his sovereignty, and his promise to be near us when we call (Psalm 145:18).

NOW LET US PRAY
Gracious God, thank You for giving us Your Word in the Old Testament that encourage us to give You thanks.
Lord, we are thankful for Your love for us. Having You as our God is mind blowing because we are so unworthy. But You love us as we are.
Thank you, Lord, for your peace that transcends understanding and your love that endures forever. Amen!
Abide with us this week as we join family and friends for thanksgiving.
We are thankful that You watch over us at all times.
In Jesus Christ’s majestic name I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
