~ MANAGING THE FEAR OF GOD AND THE SPIRIT OF FEAR
Beloved, the Bible mentioned two types of fear.
1. THE FEAR OF GOD
This type of fear is beneficial and it is needed by every believer in Christ to fear God in order to have a healthy relationship with God, the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit.
This type of fear does not necessarily mean to be afraid of something. Rather, it is a reverential awe of God, a reverence for His power and glory.
It is also a proper respect for His wrath and anger. In other words, the fear of the Lord is a total acknowledgement of all that God is, which comes through knowing Him and His attributes.
The fear of the Lord brings with it many blessings and benefits. It is the beginning of wisdom and leads to good understanding.
Psalms 111:10 AMP tells us “The [reverent] fear of the Lord is the beginning (the prerequisite, the absolute essential, the alphabet) of wisdom; A good understanding and a teachable heart are possessed by all those who do the will of the Lord; His praise endures forever.”
Also, Proverbs 1:7 AMP says “The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; But arrogant fools despise [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction and self-discipline.”
PLEASE READ THE ABOVE VERSES SLOWLY.
Furthermore, fear of the Lord leads to life, rest, peace, and contentment (Proverbs 19:23). It is the fountain and life (Proverbs 14:27) and provides a security and a place of safety for us (Proverbs 14:26).
2. THE SPIRIT OF FEAR
This type of fear is detrimental and the believer must overcome it. In fact, it an instrument in the hand of the enemy of our souls to get us down with worry and anxiety.
All we have to do is look around us to see people whose lives are controlled by the spirit of fear. The spirit of fearfulness and timidity does not come from God . This is the fear that something bad will happen to them or their loved ones.
Sometimes we are just afraid and sometimes this “spirit of fear” overcomes us, and to overcome it we need to TRUST in and LOVE God completely.
THESE SCRIPTURES ARE THE ANTIDOTE TO FEAR “The spirit of fear”
Psalms 56:11 AMP says “In God have I put my trust and confident reliance; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
1 John 4:18 AMP declares “There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love].”
Isaiah 41:10 AMP tells us “Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].”
WE ARE TO TRUST IN THE LOVE OF GOD FOR US
Once we have learned to put our trust in God, we will no longer be afraid of the things that come against us. We will be like the psalmist who said with confidence in…Psalm 5:11
Psalms 5:11 AMP But let all who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice, Let them ever sing for joy; Because You cover and shelter them, Let those who love Your name be joyful and exult in You.”
The truth is that THE FEAR OF GOD drives out the “spirit of fear”from us.

NOW LET US PRAY
Great and mighty God, thank You for loving us so much. Help us to have reverence fear for You so that we spend our days and nights living in awe of who You are, having sweet fellowship with You.
Father, we need You to help anyone among us who is afraid or dealing with the spirit of fear to trust You to protect them from any and all dangers. Lord, do not allow Satan to use his lies to put destructive fear in us. Help us to find joy is the knowledge of Your love for us as we put our trust in You only. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
