LET US SURRENDER OUR WORK TO THE LORD, so we do not labor in vain.
As a retiree, after working for 37 years in the Information Technology Industry. I can honestly look back and reflect on how much I relied on the Lord to lead, guide, and direct me through each work day. I depended on Him. I could NOT have made it without Him. I realize that whatever accomplishment I archived was because of the grace and mercy of Jehovah God.
We are told in Psalms 127:1-2 that “Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise early, To retire late, To eat the bread of anxious labors— For He gives [blessings] to His beloved even in his sleep.”
The above scripture, with its condition that the Lord builds the house, contains both a warning and a promise. If you want success, align your personal plans with God’s plan for your life; when that happens, ultimate failure becomes impossible, and ultimate success is guaranteed.
Trying to accomplish anything without God’s blessing, apart from His wisdom, is foolish. It leads to futility in the end and to the lament of Ecclesiastes 1:2: “Everything is meaningless.”
I encourage anyone reading this devotional to make it a habit to pray daily before the start of your work day, and surrender your work into God’s capable hands, to guide you to the center of His will and for His glory in your work.
When we do our jobs to please God and to glorify Him, we unleash His power on our behalf to help us and be successful in our work lives.
LET US PRAY
Our loving father, thank You for yet another day in life. Lord, help us to surrender our work to You for Your glory. So that our work is meaningful in our lives and we are fulfilled in You as You get all the glory. Lord, bless the works of our hands as only You can. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
