In his letter to the believers in Corinth, apostle Paul cautioned them to not deceive themselves by thinking that they are wise, because the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. This point is further clarified in…
1 Corinthians 3:18-23 AMP – Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool [discarding his worldly pretensions and acknowledging his lack of wisdom], so that he may become [truly] wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness (absurdity, stupidity) before God; for it is written [in Scripture], “[He is] The one who catches the wise and clever in their craftiness;” [Job 5:13] and again,
The Lord knows the thoughts of the [humanly] wise, that they are useless.
So let no one boast in men [about their wisdom, or of having this or that one as a leader].
Isaiah 5:21 AMP also tells us…Woe (judgment is coming) to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever and shrewd in their own sight!
Psalms 94:11 AMP says “The Lord knows the thoughts of man, That they are a mere breath (vain, empty, futile).”
We are called to be humble and not be wise in our own eyes.
God, all things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas (Peter) or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things are yours, and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God.
LET US PRAY
Holy God, thank You for giving us this day. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Father, give us the discernment not to be wise in our own eyes, but acknowledge You as our only source. Help us to be humble toward You and others.
All things belong to You., we belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God. Lord, I pray that You heal all our brokenness. In Jesus Christ mighty name I pray.
