Beloved, in His love for His creations, God gave us a perfect example on how to do life as believers in God in the person of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
In fact Jesus said in John 13:15 AMP
”For I gave you [this as] an example, so that you should do [in turn] as I did to you.”
Also in 1 Peter 2:21 AMP
”For [as a believer] you have been called for this purpose, since Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you may follow in His footsteps.”
Hebrews 12:2 AMP encourages us to focus on Jesus
”[looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work].”
THERE IS POWER IN THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS!
JESUS PRACTICED WHAT HE PREACHED
Jesus gave us example regarding prayer
Matthew 6:9 AMP tells us…
”Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.”
Luke 11:2-4 AMP says
”He (Jesus) said to them, “When you pray, say:
‘ Father, hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us [who has offended or wronged us]. And lead us not into temptation [but rescue us from evil].’ ”
Jesus gave us example of forgiveness
Luke 23:34 AMP says
”And Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing His clothes among themselves. [Ps 22:18]”
Jesus gave us example of love
Revelation 1:5 AMP
”and from Jesus Christ, the faithful and trustworthy Witness, the Firstborn of the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who [always] loves us and who [has once for all] freed us [or washed us] from our sins by His own blood (His sacrificial death)— [Ps 89:27]”
JESUS SET A POWERFUL EXAMPLE
Jesus cared enough to die as Passover lamb
1 Corinthians 5:7 AMP says
”Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new batch, just as you are, still unleavened. For Christ our Passover Lamb has been sacrificed.”
Jesus obeyed God’s Will even as He suffered on the cross.
Luke 22:42 AMP
”saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup [of divine wrath] from Me; yet not My will, but [always] Yours be done.”
Jesus taught with authority
Matthew 7:29 AMP
”for He was teaching them as one who had authority [to teach entirely of His own volition], and not as their scribes [who relied on others to confirm their authority].”
JESUS DEMONSTRATED COMPASSION:
To the lost
Matthew 9:36 AMP tells us
”When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion and pity for them, because they were dispirited and distressed, like sheep without a shepherd.”
To those who are hurting
Matthew 14:14 AMP
”When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt [profound] compassion for them and healed their sick.”
To those who are bereaved
Luke 7:13 AMP
”When the Lord saw her, He felt [great] compassion for her, and said to her, “Do not weep.”
As we draw nearer to Jesus, our lives will reflect Him more.
NOW LET US PRAY
Jesus, thank You Lord, for the examples that You gave us in how to walk the Christian walk.
We need You to help us to imitate Your examples of obedience to God’s will, how to pray, love, and living a life that pleases God.
Holy Spirit, abide with us at all times as we seek to draw closer to You.
