The dictionary defines “Crisis” as a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger.
Crisis could show up at any given time in our lives. Unexpected loss of a loved one, accident, illness, fractured relationship, financial issues, the list goes on.
Personally, I have experienced quite a few crisis in my life. However, over the years I have learned to run to the bosom of the Lord, bury myself in the Word of God and praying fervently asking God to glorify Himself in my crisis.
What should we do when crisis come knocking on our doors?
1. REMEMBER GOD’S PROMISE
God promise to be present with us even in our crisis.
Promise from God PSALM 46:1-3 AMP – “God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable], A very present and well-proved help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains be shaken and slip into the heart of the seas, Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains tremble at its roaring. Selah.”
2. CRY OUT TO GOD IN PRAYERS
Scripture encourages us to cry out to God when we are in trouble.
When we reach the end of our rope, call upon the Lord, for our struggle is a time for his strength; our crisis is his opportunity to showcase His strength in our lives.
Psalm 130:1-2 AMP declares “Out of the depths [of distress] I have cried to You, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications and prayers.”
JONAH 2:1-21 Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from inside the fish. He said, “I cried out to the LORD in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and LORD, you heard me!”
3. WE ARE TO ASK GOD FOR PROTECTION
When a crisis leaves us vulnerable and exposed, seek the merciful protective covering of our merciful and all-powerful Lord.
PSALM 57:1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.
4. MEDITATE ON GOD’S WORD
When a crisis threatens to overwhelm us, we should read God’s Word for strength and wisdom. It is a firm foundation that will keep you from falling into a bottomless pit.
PSALM 28:7 The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
4. GIVE GOD ALL OUR BURDENS
We are to give God all our burdens when we encounter crisis.
Matthew 11:28-30 AMP tell us “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. [Jer 6:16] For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.”
5. PRAISE AND THANK GOD.
While you are in the midst of a crisis, you may be wonder-ing, Who can I trust? But afterward, you discover that you can always trust the Lord. Praise and thank him for all he has done.
PSALM 119:143 As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands.
NOW LET US PRAY
Merciful God, thank You for being a present help for us in times of trouble. Thank You for the promise of protection when trouble arise for us. Thank You for the comfort that we find in Your Word in times of trouble. Lord, You are amazing in all Your ways. Help us to “run”to You when we are in crisis as we trust You to use our troubles for Your glory. We need You Lord, You did not create us to handle life crisis on our own. Help us to remember to bring our burdens to You. Abide with us Father. In Jesus’ mighty name I have prayed. Amen
Have a blessed day
