Yesterday we learned that the first thing we have to do for Satan and his cohorts to flee from us is to SUBMIT to God.
It is easier to listen to our sinful nature and follow after our own desires rather than submit to Christ. It is more difficult to submit to God, but it is the right thing to do if we are to walk victoriously in our Christian walk.
When we submit ourselves to God, we acknowledge His Lordship in our lives. We must follow Jesus’ examples in how He submitted to God the Father.
We are told in Philippians 2:5-8 AMP that we are to;
Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility], who, although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes—the entire nature of deity], did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped or asserted [as if He did not already possess it, or was afraid of losing it]; but emptied Himself [without renouncing or diminishing His deity, but only temporarily giving up the outward expression of divine equality and His rightful dignity] by assuming the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men [He became completely human but was without sin, being fully God and fully man]…
He(Jesus) humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
Submitting ourselves to God means that:
We listen to Him by studying His Word for understanding.
We obey Him by doing what He says in His Word.
We follow Him by giving up our own desires, hopes, and wants (humble surrender) and choose to follow Jesus wherever He leads.
It can be hard to submit to God at times because of our fleshly desires. However, as Christians, we have the Holy Spirit in us.
Luke 9:23 AMP tells us “ And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross daily [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me].”
The Holy Spirit can help us submit to God because submitting to God aligns with His will. Since the Holy Spirit is the Third Member of the Trinity, He is God.
The Holy Spirit can help us submit to God by obeying Him and following Him. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can cultivate the fruits of the Spirit in our lives. The fruits consist of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
LET US PRAY
Holy God, thank You for a brand new day of life . Lord, help me to submit my will to Yours and trust in Your divine plan.
I pray that You grant me a humble heart, Lord, that I may willingly yield to Your authority.
Father, I pray for Obedience: Help me obey Your Word, Lord, and submit to Your commands.
Guide me in submitting to others in love and respect.
Grant me patience, Lord, to endure difficulties and practice submission. Teach me to forgive, Lord, as an act of
submission to Your love and grace.
Grant me wisdom to discern when and how to
submit, Lord. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
