This βfear of God” not as terror, but as a deep awe, reverence, and respect for God’s power and holiness, which leads to submission, obedience, wisdom and spiritual growth.
It involves acknowledging God’s character, desiring to please Him, and turning away from sin.
This healthy fear is a foundation for wisdom, a fountain of life, and a sign of God’s presence and love, promising protection, honor, and a long life.
Proverbs 9:10 AMP tells usβ¦
βThe [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence], And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight.β
Psalms 147:11 AMP tells usβ¦
βThe Lord favors those who fear and worship Him [with awe-inspired reverence and obedience], Those who wait for His mercy and lovingkindness.β

Jesus taught that faith is a powerful tool, even when small, capable of overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles, like a mustard seed moving a mountain.
He emphasized that faith should be expressed in prayer and trust in God’s ability, stating, “According to your faith it will be done unto you”.
Jesus also contrasted faith with doubt, suggesting that a lack of doubt coupled with belief allows one to receive what they ask for in prayer.
Hebrews 11:6 AMP tells usβ¦
βBut without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.β

A spiritually minded person as one whose mindset is on the Spirit, leading to “life and peace” and acting as an “attitude-set” that exalts God and His Word.
This mindset involves:
dependence on the Holy Spirit,
a Christ-centered focus,
a renewed moral compass reflecting the fruit of the Spirit, and the ability to discern spiritual truths, which ultimately brings guidance and protection.
Romans 8:6-8 AMP tells usβ¦
βNow the mind of the flesh is death [both now and foreverβbecause it pursues sin];
but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace [the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with Godβboth now and forever];
the mind of the flesh [with its sinful pursuits] is actively hostile to God.
It does not submit itself to Godβs law, since it cannot,
and those who are in the flesh [living a life that caters to sinful appetites and impulses] cannot please God.β
Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God._

The Word of God calls for followers to commit to Jesus Christ alone for salvation and discipleship, emphasizing that no other name offers salvation and that
following Him requires radical self-denial,
a willingness to carry one’s cross, and daily commitment.
While Christ is the sole path to salvation, He also established a community for believers, highlighting the importance of fellowship and mutual encouragement within the church for a complete walk with God.
Acts 4:12 AMP also affirmsβ¦
βAnd there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved [for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation].β
Matthew 17:5 AMP tells usβ¦
βWhile he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said,
βThis is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased and delighted! Listen to Him!ββ

The Bible is clear that obedience to God is an expression of love to God.
Jesus said in John 14:15
“If you love me, keep my commandments”
Obedience isn’t about fearful servitude but about a willing, loving response to God’s guidance, which brings purpose and brings believers closer to God.
Following God’s commands is associated with blessings and divine favor, while disobedience carries negative consequences.
This obedience stems from faith in God and is empowered by the Holy Spirit, who helps believers live out God’s will.
1Samuel 15:22 But Samuel replied:
“Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD?
To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

Doing God’s will includes trusting in Jesus Christ, loving God and others, living a life of repentance, and acting in love and kindness.
Hebrews 13:20-21 AMP
βNow may the God of peace [the source of serenity and spiritual well-being] who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood that sealed and ratified the eternal covenant, equip you with every good thing to carry out His will and strengthen you [making you complete and perfect as you ought to be], accomplishing in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.β
Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 AMPβ¦
βNot everyone who says to Me, βLord, Lord,β will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.β

The Word of God desires a “sacrifice” that consists of a broken and contrite heart, obedience, living a holy life, acts of kindness and generosity, and a continual offering of praise to Him.
While the Old Testament involved animal sacrifices, the New Testament however emphasizes spiritual sacrifices, especially the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, which now allows believers to approach God with a transformed mind and a life offered in worship.
Hebrew 13:15-16 tells usβ¦
βThrough Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise — the fruit of lips that confess his name.β And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.β

Father in heaven , thank for Your Word that tells us how to please You.
Lord God, we desire to please You, and not men.
Holy Spirit, give us the mindset and empower us to please You.
Lord, keep us in Your will and abide with us at all times.
Lord Jesus, thank You for showing us examples of sacrifices that please God.
In the majestic name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
