Beloved, in the last three devotionals, we explored how to create a solid foundation for our lives. With a solid foundation in place, we must learn how to grow our relationship with Jesus Christ on all daily basis.
1 John 2: 3-6 AMP tells us just how to grow our relationships with Jesus Christ.
”And this is how we know [daily, by experience] that we have come to know Him [to understand Him and be more deeply acquainted with Him]:
if we habitually keep [focused on His precepts and obey] His commandments (teachings).
Whoever says, “I have come to know Him,” but does not habitually keep [focused on His precepts and obey] His commandments (teachings), is a LIAR , and the truth [of the divine word] is not in him.
But whoever habitually keeps His word and obeys His precepts [and treasures His message in its entirety], in him the love of God has truly been perfected [it is completed and has reached maturity].
By this we know [for certain] that we are in Him: whoever says he lives in Christ [that is, whoever says he has accepted Him as God and Savior] ought [as a moral obligation] to walk and conduct himself just as He walked and conducted Himself.”
When we form a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ, I found out from personal experience that Jesus quickly becomes our best friend.
And He will be your friend forever according to His promises.
Jesus has offered to share the gifts of everlasting life and everlasting love with the world and with you.
If you make mistakes, He will stand by you.
If you fall short of His com-mandments, He will still love you.
If you feel lonely or worried, He can touch your heart and lift your spirits.
Jesus wants us to enjoy a happy, healthy, and abundant life.
He wants us to walk with Him and to share His Good News.
We can do it. And with a friend like Jesus, we will.
The crucial question for each of us is this:
What do you think of Jesus, and do you yet have a personal acquaintance with Him?
NOW LET US PRAY
Thank You, Jehovah God, for the gift of Your Son.
Today I count Jesus Christ as my dearest friend, and I will share His transforming message with a world in desperate need of His peace.
Holy Spirit, we need You help us to grow in our relationships with Jesus on a daily basis, so that our transformations into His likeness are complete.
In the matchless name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen
