In the book of Exodus, Moses petitioned God about the seemingly insurmountable task that God had given to him, to lead the Israelites to the promised land.
God answered Moses in Exodus 33:14-17 AMP which reads “And the Lord said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest [by bringing you and the people into the promised land].”
And Moses said to Him, “If Your presence does not go [with me], do not lead us up from here. For how then can it be known that Your people and I have found favor in Your sight? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we are distinguished, Your people and I, from all the [other] people on the face of the earth?”
In the last verse, Moses highlighted the truth the God’s presence was needed for him and the Israelites to proceed on their journey, otherwise they would not leave. God’s presence gave them divine favor for their trip.
The Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have asked; for you have found favor (lovingkindness, mercy) in My sight and I have known you [personally] by name.”
Likewise, in our life journey, from days to weeks to months to years to distinguish us among every one here on earth until we are ushered to go to our promised land of eternal life with the Lord, we need God’s presence with us.
Also, like Moses, we must have the same attitude to request for and take the presence of God with us everywhere we go, even until we depart this earthly realm into our eternal promised land.
LET US PRAY
Our God and our Father, thank You for yet another day of life. Thank You for making Your presence available to us as we live our lives to please You. Lord, teach us to seek and welcome Your presence as we go about our days, our weeks, our months and our years, all the way to eternity with You. Help us to recognize and enjoy ever loving presence at all times. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen
