God’s Divine Provision – By Iwalola(Lola) Ademodi

💥Our Lord Jesus Christ’s Sermon on the Mount, teaches about God’s care for His creation and His provision for His children.

💥Jesus calls us to trust in God and live free from anxiety, knowing that our Heavenly Father is faithful to supply all our needs.

Jesus Command Us Not to Worry (Matthew 6:25)

✝️”Therefore I tell you, stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing?”

💥What Jesus Means by “Stop being anxious about your life ” is that we must not be overly concerned about our life.

💥Jesus is not condemning planning but rather excessive worry that distracts us from trusting God.

💥Anxiety about material needs reflects a lack of faith in God’s character and care.

💥Life Is More Than Material Needs

👉🏾Jesus reminds us that life is more than food, and

👉🏾The body is more than clothing.

👉🏾Our true needs are not merely physical but spiritual.

👉🏾God, who gave us life, is capable of sustaining it.

💥The Examples of God’s Provision in Nature (Matthew 6:26-30)

The Birds of the Air (v. 26)

✝️”Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed]nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops]into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by worrying can add one hour to [the length of]his life? “

💥Birds do not engage in farming or storing food, yet God provides for them daily. If God cares for birds, how much more will He care for His children, who are made in His image?

The Lilies of the Field (vv. 28-30)

✝️”Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin.”

💥The lilies grow beautifully without human effort, and Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of them.

💥If God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and gone tomorrow, how much more will He provide for us?

💥Jesus emphasizes the Father’s faithfulness and our worth in His eyes. Worry is unnecessary because God is both able and willing to provide.

The Priority of Seeking God’s Kingdom (Matthew 6:31-33)

Do Not Follow the Gentiles’ Way of Thinking (v. 32)

✝️”For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; [but do not worry,] for your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”

💥The Gentiles (unbelievers) prioritize material pursuits because they do not know God as their Provider.

💥As believers, we are called to a different mindset—one of trust in a loving Father who knows our needs before we ask.

Seek First the Kingdom of God (v. 33)

✝️”But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also”

💥This is the key principle: when we prioritize God’s kingdom (His rule and purposes) and live in righteousness, He promises to take care of our material needs.

💥Prioritizing the kingdom means aligning our lives with God’s will, spreading the gospel, and growing in holiness.

The Promise of God’s Faithful Provision (Matthew 6:34)

✝️”So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

💥Trust God Daily

👉🏾Jesus encouraged us to live one day at a time. Each day has its own challenges, and worrying about tomorrow only adds unnecessary stress.

👉🏾God’s provision is daily, just as He provided manna for the Israelites one day at a time (Exodus 16:4).

💥God’s Sovereignty Over the Future

👉🏾Worrying about the future denies God’s sovereignty and care. 👉🏾Instead, we are to trust that He is already in control of our tomorrows.

HOW SHOULD THE BELIEVER RESPOND TO GOD’S PROVISION?

💥Recognize God as Your Provider

👉🏾Trust that God knows your needs better than you do and is faithful to supply them.

👉🏾Reflect on His past provisions as a testimony of His faithfulness.

💥Live Without Anxiety

👉🏾Replace your worries with prayer.

✝️Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

💥Prioritize God’s Kingdom

👉🏾Make God’s work and righteousness the focus of your life.

👉🏾Trust that when you do, your material needs will be met.

Rest in God’s Promises

✝️Meditate on promises like Psalm 37:25: *”I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”*

💥In a nutshell

👉🏾God’s provision is sure, sufficient, and timely.

👉🏾He cares for the birds and the lilies, and He will certainly care for His children.

💥Our responsibility is to trust Him, seek His kingdom first, and live free from the burden of anxiety.

💥Let us rest in the assurance that our Heavenly Father is faithful to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
