It is very comforting to know that when we surrender our lives to God and make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, He did not leave us hanging by ourselves in this wicked and sin-sick world. In preparation for His departure from this world, Jesus told His disciples in John 14: 16-18:
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.
I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, bereaved, and helpless]; I will come [back] to you.
Jesus continued to assure His disciples about the type of help that the Holy Spirit will provide to those His followers (us) in verses 24-25 of the same chapter.

Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf]
He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.
What a loving God we serve! In Jesus Christ, He gave us the gift of a lifetime, the Holy Spirit, to be our Companion and Comforter to help us through our journey on this side of heaven.

Loving and merciful God, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us in our Christian walk. Holy Spirit, thank You for Your presence and for empowering us to do God’s will here on earth. Thank You for being our strength, advocate, and counselor when the enemy rises up against us. All glory to Your Holy name. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
