As we continue to explore God’s guidance for our lives. It is important that we know that He desires to guide us into newness.
What is this newness?
When we choose to walk with God, by allowing Him to guide us through our lives, we undergo series of transformations from our old self into the newness that is Christlike.
God want every believer to be like His son Jesus Christ.
God guides us to a relationship with Him, through our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We can read about His guidance into a relationship with Him in the Bible.
Romans 6:4-7 AMP tells us:
We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways].
For if we have become one with Him [permanently united] in the likeness of His death, we will also certainly be [one with Him and share fully] in the likeness of His resurrection.
We know that our old self [our human nature without the Holy Spirit] was nailed to the cross with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.
For the person who has died [with Christ] has been freed from [the power of] sin.”
Colossians 2:6-7 AMP ,says:
”Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in [union with] Him [reflecting His character in the things you do and say—living lives that lead others away from sin], having been deeply rooted [in Him] and now being continually built up in Him and [becoming increasingly more] established in your faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing in it with gratitude.”
When we walk with God as He guides us , we must walk by the Spirit.
Galatians 5:16-17 – ESV tells us;
”Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other…
Also, Colossians 3:1-2 AMP instructs us;
”Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead],
keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value].”
NOW LET US PRAY
Most High God, we pray that You help us walk with the mindsets of “seeking the things above”—seeking You.
I pray that we would walk so close to You that all our thoughts are in continuous dialogue with Your Spirit, to hear clearly Your Spirit’s “still small voice”.
Jesus, my heart-cry is for each one of us to live each day worthy of Your calling!
Lord, thank You that there are so many opportunities—bearing Your eternal fruit, learning more of You in Your Word, worshiping You. And as You taught, ‘God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth’. -John 4:24
Jesus, we confess that walking in our spirit along with Your Spirit is challenging in this world that offers continuous satisfaction in every sort of “perceived as necessary” physical desire.
Lord, give us clear vision to see this deception and let go. Since our lives are hidden in You.
Father, help us know if there is anything we hang on to that prevents us from living in Your fullness.
Jesus, we know if we abide with You in vital relationship, we will also find all things that relate to joyful lives.
Lord, I ask that You help me die to myself so that I may truly live!
This is my desire, but in the difficulty and busyness of life, I lose sight of Your path, distracted by self-satisfactions.
Father, strengthen our walks in You and the awareness of Your presence with us every moment.
Once again, Father, I thank You for directing our paths into this new ness of life with You.
Thank You for pulling us away from the fruitless life of endless activities focused on self, that ultimately do not satisfy.
The truth of my new life, hidden in Your glorious loving arms, fills me with unexplainable gratitude.
Lord, lift us up to Your heart, and breathe upon us with Your Holy Spirit.
