~ EXPERIENCING THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD
The Bible is very clear about the faithfulness of God toward His people. He is a God who keeps His promises and covenants. He is unfailing.
In Malachi 3:6 AMP, the Lord declared “For I am the Lord, I do not change [but remain faithful to My covenant with you]; that is why you, O sons of Jacob, have not come to an end.”
Also, Lamentation 3: 22-23 tells us “It is because of the Lord’s lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed, Because His [tender] compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness.”
When the Bible says that God is faithful, it means he is also faithful to himself-always acting in ways that are consistent with his nature.
Unlike fickle human beings, God never wavers in his love, mercy, justice, holiness, or goodness. Because he is utterly faithful, we can lean on him and trust in him.
God’s faithfulness is what gives us confidence in his promises.
He is our rock, our fortress, a very present help in times of trouble.
What does it mean to take refuge in the Lord? It means first of all that we place our faith in him, trusting that he is who he says he is.
But having faith in God involves more than intellectual assent.
It demands complete commit-ment.
It requires obedience: we trust God enough to obey him.
Disobedience is simply an outward manifestation of unbelief. Instead of trusting God, we trust ourselves to know what is best.
Taking refuge in the Lord means:
We will seek him first, not last, when trouble comes.
It means we will rely on his Word as the truth.
It means we will lean into him rather than leaning into our fears or desires.
It means we will never attempt to “revise God”— to “remake him” in a way that is either softer or harder than he is.
We find an example of human faithfulness in the life of Apostle Paul, a man who suffered greatly because of his love for Christ.
He was shipwrecked, imprisoned, beaten, and stoned. Yet instead of giving up, Paul acclaimed God’s faithfulness by challenging believers in Rome:
If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
Paul had learned the secret of contentment. He knew how to rest in Gods faithfulness, trusting that each morning would bring fresh mercies from the God who loved him.
NOW LET US PRAY
Faithful God, Lord, you are true to yourself and to the promises and covenants that you have made.
Thank you for never failing or forsaking us.
Help us to learn to rest in your faithfulness.
Strengthen us so that we might always be faithful to you in whatever circumstances that we find ourselves. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
