~ EXPERIENCING THE GOODNESS OF GOD.
In the Christian world the phrase “God is good” is so commonly used that it is almost a cliche. However, we will pay attention to the the true meaning of “God is good“
One of the key attributes of God that makes Him a great God is His goodness.
The Bible tells us repeatedly that God is good. He’s all the definitions of goodness wrapped into one perfect character trait.
God’s goodness is not simply another way to understand Him.
The goodness of God spills over into our lives by reaching to us even in our darkest times.
He shares His goodness with us and changes us.
His goodness motivates us to trust Him and gives us hope.
The LORD is good to all; and his tender mercies are over all His works. Psalm 145:9
Most people want to be good. They try to be kind, giving, and do the right thing, but the struggle is real, and all of us fail at some point.
In reality, It would be impossible to write enough words to praise God or explain His greatness however we will do it through the scripture.
The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him. Nahum 1:7
The last verse reminds us that God is good. Yes, He is powerful, and His righteous anger will burn against the wicked, but He is good. He is a safe place when we are in trouble. He knows us.
Sometimes it feels like the bad people are the ones who win, but God will have the final say. He will deal with the wicked in His own time. He hears our struggle and understands. He is good, and He will be our safe place against evil in the world.
Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is [essentially] good [by nature] except God alone.” – Mark 10:18 AMP
The blessings of God have little to do with who we are and far more to do with who God is. Amid a discussion on trials and temptation, James, the half-brother or Jesus, points out that every good gift and every perfect gift is from God. He is good regardless of what we are going through.
James 1:17 AMP tells us “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].”
A vast difference exists between knowing something is true and experiencing the truth of it. We can know the chair will hold us, but only when we actually sit in it can we experience its strength. When we truly experience God’s goodness, we bask in His greatness and our faith is strengthened.
Psalms 34:8 AMP declares “O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good; How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.”
The Bible encourages us to long for the goodness of God as stated in 1 Peter 2:2-3
1 Peter 2:2-3 AMP …”like newborn babies [you should] long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may be nurtured and grow in respect to salvation [its ultimate fulfillment], if in fact you have [already] tasted the goodness and gracious kindness of the Lord.”
Only when we risk trusting God with our lives, can we truly experience His wonderful goodness.
It’s hard to know what the future holds, but we do know our good God holds the future. We will keep seeking Him so we can find Him in His glorious goodness.
NOW LET US PRAY
Great and Mighty God , thank You for pouring out your goodness on us. We appreciate You ,Jesus. Help us to recognize and experience Your goodness in our lives everyday of our lives. Abide with us at all times, Lord. In Jesus blessed name I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
