GOD’S GRACE IS NOT GIVEN TO THOSE WHO ARE PROUD, BUT TO THE HUMBLE.
To be clear, there is a difference between the kind of pride that God hates (Proverbs 8:13) and the kind of pride we can feel about a job well done (Galatians 6:4) or the kind of pride we express over the accomplishment of loved ones (2 Corinthians 7:4).
The kind of pride that stems from self-righteousness or conceit is sin, however, and God hates it because it is a hindrance to seeking Him.
The Bible warns against pride, stating it leads to destruction and a fall, and that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. It highlights pride as a root of sin and a barrier to God’s grace
Beloved, pride in our heart is a tool that the enemy of our souls often uses in spiritual warfare against us.
In fact pride was the essence of Satan’s character. The Bible says that Satan was cast out of heaven because of his pride, as he desired to be like God. Read Isaiah 14:12-14
Pride blinds us to God’s truth, making us vulnerable to the devil’s schemes.
Pride as a Root of Sin:
The Bible portrays pride as a major sin and the root of many others.
The first sin in the Garden of Eden is attributed to pride, as is the first murder.
Pride Leads to Destruction:
Proverbs 16:18 states,
”Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall”.
This verse emphasizes that pride often precedes downfall and ruin.
God Opposes the Proud:
James 4:6 AMP warns:
”But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation].
Therefore, it says, “God is opposed to the proud and haughty, but [continually] gives [the gift of] grace to the humble [who turn away from self-righteousness].”
This verse highlights that GOD’S GRACE IS NOT GIVEN TO THOSE WHO ARE PROUD, but to those who are humble.
Pride is a Barrier to our relationships with God:
Pride can keep people from seeking God and accepting Jesus as their Savior because they believe they are sufficient in themselves.
Pride would prevent us from growing spiritually.
Pride and Self-Worship
The Bible views pride as a form of self-worship, where individuals take credit for what God has done and refuse to acknowledge His glory.
Pharaoh’s pride and refusal to release the Israelites from slavery are a classic example of the dangers of pride.
The parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector in Luke 18:9-14 illustrates how pride can lead to spiritual blindness and a lack of humility.
NOW LET US PRAY
Great mighty God, Father , we thank You for this day of life.
Thank You, for waking us up this morning.
Jesus, You are awesome in all Your ways, so we give You glory.
God we give You adoration.
Lord, we submit our minds to You that You will capture our hearts .
Lord by living in obedience to You, Lord remove pride fromour lives, so we can be useful to Your kingdom.
We know that we are useless to You, Lord Jesus, if we hold pride in our hearts, remove pride from us and keep us humble with thanks .
Thank You for helping us to overcome the spirit of pride and we will be useful to Your Kingdom Jesus
