Choices – Part 2

This is Part 2 of 2 for the blog on Choices

Let’s face the truth, we all like calling our own shots. We like to be in control of what happens to us in our lives. This is all fine and good except that in calling our own shots we have to make decisions or choices regarding the directions we want to take in our lives.  We get to a fork in the road sometimes, wondering which direction to go. For the followers of Jesus Christ, the word of God beckons us to depend on God to direct our paths and lead us according to His will.  The Bible promises that the paths of those who trust in the Lord will be set straight.  In other words, God will help those who trust the Lord make the right choices whenever they are at the fork in the road of life, if they depend on His guidance.

For example:

In Proverbs 3:5-6 we are told to “trust in the Lord with all your heartand lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

In Psalm 23:3 the Word of God says, “He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”

Dear friends, whenever you are at the “fork on the road” of choices, God’s wisdom beckons us to:

  1. Find out what the Word of God say about the particular choices in question.
  2. Pray and ask God to reveal the right choice that will glorify His name to in our lives.
  3. Seek wise counsels from godly people around  you.
  4. Do not entertain any doubt that God’s wisdom will guide you.
  5. Wait on God if needed. Do not rush to make choices that you will regret.

Making choices aligned with God’s wisdom is one sure way to not sabotage our lives.
