Beloved, all we have to do is look around us to observe several discouraging things in our world because we live in a fallen and sin-sick world .
Anything from;
Lack of genuine love and compassion among people, even family members.
Selfishness and self centeredness (People all out for themselves).
Not caring for or valuing one another.
Suffering on several levels on the old and the young.
Abuse of all kind.
Joblessness
Betrayal
Poverty (rich getting richer, poor getting poorer).
War and rumors of war.
Family conflicts left and right.
Rogue governments, taking advantage of the people.
Just to name a few things that could bring discouragement and hopelessness for some among us.
I submit to you that there’s hope for overcoming discouragement for us, IF we put our hope in our sovereign God.
The Word of God tells us just that…
Psalm 42:5 says “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
The Amplified version says “why are you in despair, oh my soul?”
There is that command; “PUT YOUR HOPE IN GOD”
We are also commanded in Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
The one good news in the middle of our chaotic world is that God promised to uphold us with His righteous right hand. We do not have to be discouraged or be in despair or slide into depression.
Isaiah 41:10 tells us “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
The question is: do you believe God? Do you trust Him to keep His promises ? Do you trust Him enough to put your hope in Him?
NOW LET US PRAY
Heavenly Father, there are some among us who are so weighed down by discouragement and despair. In these moments when their spirit falters and hope dims, help us to turn to You, the only source of all hope, comfort and strength.
Lord, lift us from the pit of despair and breathe Your joy and peace into our hearts. Remind us of Your promises and Your faithfulness, which have never failed and never will.
Strengthen us with Your mighty power, that we may rise above the disheartening circumstances and see the situation through Your eyes – a perspective that brings hope and renewal.
Lord, grant us the perseverance to continue pressing forward, even when the path is steep and rugged.
Instill in us the courage to face each challenge with confidence, knowing that You are with us, guiding and supporting us. Help us to not lose heart but to remain steadfast and resilient, trusting in Your sovereignty and Your timing.
Replenish our spirits with Your peace and joy, ensuring that our faith is anchored deeply in Your eternal truths, not in the shifting sands of worldly circumstances.
Heavenly Father, infuse our hearts with hope and a positive outlook as we navigate through this phase of discouragement.
Help us to see the blessings that still surround us and to count each one, fostering a spirit of gratitude rather than despair.
Teach us to focus on the positive, to find joy in the smallest of Your blessings, and to keep our mind set on what is good and praiseworthy.
I declare my freedom from discouragement. I choose to focus on God’s presence, strength, and unfailing support, rising above my circumstances with renewed hope and courage.
