Beloved, I submit to you that our knowledge of the Word of God is not measured by our ability to parrot scripture but in how the word has shaped our lives.
If you have traveled along the coastline you may have seen trees that are shaped by the strong ocean winds.
Over time the wind shapes the trees in amazing twists and turns causing some really dramatic views.
In the same way, over time the Word of God should shape our lives in way that causes our lives to reflect the Word.
This happens as we study, meditate and obey the Word of God.
The apostle Paul wrote to the Colossian church about the Word shaping their lives:
Colossians 3:16-17 (NASB) instructs
“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
In order for the Word of God to dwell in us it must take root in our hearts, becoming the guiding force for our lives, which shapes our thoughts, attitudes, speech, and behavior.
For the Word to be effective in our lives in this way, our study of the Word of God should include time spent pondering the application of scripture to our daily lives.
If our study of the Word does not shape our lives over time then our study has not been productive. It could be we have not let the Word “dwell” in our hearts richly; maybe we have not allowed the Word we hear in small group, or worship service, to spill over into how we live throughout the week.
As we grow in our understanding and application of the Word we grow in Godly wisdom and our ability to instruct and encourage others.
As we grow in our knowledge of the Word, our capacity to worship and serve God should increase.
The indwelling Word of God also helps us to confront the lies of the enemy of our souls.
My personal experience is that the Holy Spirit brings the Word of God (in me) into my memory to help me fight spiritual battles. I believe that He will do the same with any other believer.

NOW LET US PRAY
Most Holy God, thank You for blessing us with another day of life. Glory to Your name.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your sacrifice on the cross, which allow us to be transformed by Your Word.
Thank You Lord Jesus for Your saving grace.
Holy Spirit, help us to be dedicated to studying, meditating and applying the Word of God to our lives.
Today we come to give You all honor adoration that is due You, Lord. Glorify Yourself in our lives.
Abide with each one of us at all times, Lord Jesus.
In the most powerful name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen ![]()
Have a blessed day ![]()
