Jesus promised His followers(you @everyonehe gift of The Holy Spirit before leaving the earth.
Jesus said in John 16:7 AMP…
“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].”
Beloved, the Holy Spirit is not just a feeling, He is the third person of the “God-Head” (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit). The Triune God.
The Holy Spirit is God’s presence living within us.
Guiding,
Correcting,
Comforting, and
Directing our path.
To be led by the Holy Spirit, we must first make room for Him in our life.
We must acknowledge Him.
We must trust Him.
WE MUST SURRENDER OUR WILL TO HIM
The Holy Spirit leads those who are willing to let go of control to Him.
Jesus Christ gave us an example by surrendering His will to Him, even though He is the Son of God, the second person in the God-Head.
Jesus in Luke 22:41-42 AMP…
”And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying,
“Father, if You are willing, remove this cup [of divine wrath] from Me; YET, NOT MY WILL, BUT [ALWAYS] YOURS BE DONE.”
WE MUST STAY ROOTED IN THE WORD OF GOD
The Holy Spirit never contradicts Scripture.
The more we know God’s Word, the clearer His voice becomes to us.
Jesus Christ in John 16:13-14 AMP, says
”But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes,
He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth].
For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father—the message regarding the Son],
and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future].
He will glorify and honor Me, because He (the Holy Spirit) will take from what is Mine and will disclose it to you.”
WE MUST SENSITIVE TO AND OBEY THE GENTLE NUDGES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit speaks in whispers
A pause,
A warning,
A push to pray,
A call to forgive.
Delayed obedience often leads to confusion.
Isaiah 30:21 AMP tells us…
“Your ears will hear a word behind you,
“This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left.”
WE MUST CHOOSE STILLNESS OVER NOISE TO HEAR THE HOLY SPIRIT
Beloved, I submit to you that:
The Holy Spirit speaks best in quiet hearts.
Reduce distractions.
Create moments of silence with God.
The Psalmist in Psalms 46:10 AMP tells us…
“Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.”
WE MUST WATCH THE FRUITS NOT THE FEELINGS
Being led by the Holy Spirit produces love, peace, patience, and self-control in our lives when we are submissive to Him.
If anything brings chaos, fear, and pride, we pause and pray again and again until He gives us peace. He is not a God of confusion.
Galatians 5:22 AMP tells us…
“But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is:
love [unselfish concern for others],
joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”
When we are led by the Holy Spirit, we may not know or see the full map, but we will always know the next step. He loves us and guides us like that.
NOW LET US PRAY
Holy God, thank You for yet another day in our lives. Glory to Your name.
Thank You Father, for the gift of the Holy Spirit, our great Comforters and Friend.
Thank You for leading, guiding and directing us through the Holy Spirit.
Lord, I pray that help us to be still and know that You are God, so we can hear the Holy Spirit as He leads, guides and directs us through the ups and downs of our lives.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your example. NOT MY WILL BUT YOURS BE DONE .
Holy Spirit, abide with each one of us in our going in and going out throughout this week.
In Jesus’Mighty name, I pray. Amen
