Beloved, the Bible teaches that increasing our prayer life should be the primary goal of every believer in Christ. It involves cultivating a consistent, persistent, and sincere connection with God, rather than relying on empty formulas.
Let us look into key practices that will help us to increase our prayer lives.
WE ARE TO PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.
Praying without ceasing using scripture to guide our prayers, praying with others, and approaching God with humility and gratitude.
It is actually the act of acknowledging God’s presence with us at all times.
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 AMP encourages us to…
“be unceasing and persistent in prayer; in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.”
BE PERSISTENT AND PERSEVERE IN PRAYER WITHOUT LOSING HOPE
We read about a persistent widow in Luke 18:1-8 as our example in perseverance.
Luke 18:1-8 AMP tells us..
“Now Jesus was telling the disciples a parable to make the point that at all times they ought to pray and not give up and lose heart, saying,
“In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and had no respect for man. There was a [desperate] widow in that city and she kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice and legal protection from my adversary.’ For a time he would not; but later he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow continues to bother me, I will give her justice and legal protection; otherwise by continually coming she [will be an intolerable annoyance and she] will wear me out.’ ”
Then the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says! And will not [our just] God defend and avenge His elect [His chosen ones] who cry out to Him day and night? Will He delay [in providing justice] on their behalf?
I tell you that He will defend and avenge them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find [this kind of persistent] faith on the earth?””
PRAY WITH DEEP CONFIDENCE IN THE ABILITY OF GOD TO DO WHAT YOU ASKED
Matthew 21:22 AMP tells us
“And whatever you ask for in prayer, believing, you will receive.””
WE MUST ALIGN YOUR REQUESTS WITH GOD’S WORD
Psalms 119:105 AMP tells us…
“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
Also, Proverbs 6:23 AMP encourages…
“For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching [of the law] is light, And reproofs (rebukes) for discipline are the way of life,”
OVERCOME TEMPTATION THROUGH URGENT AND FAITHFUL PRAYER
Matthew 26:41 AMP encourages us…
“Keep actively watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
SEEK THE GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR YOUR LIFE
Ephesians 6:18 AMP…encourages us to…
“With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.”
NOW LET US PRAY
Gracious Father in heaven. thank You for giving us another day in life. Glory to Your name.
Father, I pray the You impact into us the desire to increase our prayer lives.
Lord, teach us how to pray without ceasing using scripture as we focus on You in humility.
Holy Spirit, empower us to pray without ceasing using confidence in You, knowing that You would hear our prayers according to Your Word.
Help us to turn to You in prayer whenever we are faced with temptations.
Lord Jesus, thank You for making prayer accessible to us due to your sacrifice on 5h3 cross.
Holy Spirit, thank You for Your abiding presence with us at all times we welcome You
into our lives and we welcome you in our midst.
Abide with each one of us in our going in and going out.
