Beloved, I submit to you that because we live in a sin-sick world, we are prone to stumbling from time to time in our fleshly nature.
When, not if we stumble, our loving Heavenly Father gave us promises in His Word for such times.
God promised through the Psalmist in Psalm 37.
Psalm 37 contrasts the way of the wicked and the way of the righteous.
The psalmist shows us how to live a life which pleases God – a life in the Spirit.
Verse 3 tells us;
βTrust [rely on and have confidence] in the Lord and do good;
Dwell in the land and feed [securely] on His faithfulness.
Verse 4
Delight yourself in the Lord, And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; Trust in Him also and He will do it.β

Verses 23 and 24 gave us the promise;
The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him;

The promise for the few verses 23-24 are only for those in whom the Lord delights.
They are those who:
β’ trust in God v. 3
β’ do good vs.3,27
β’ delight in God v.4
β’ refrain from anger vs. 8,37
β’ live by God’s word v.31
β’ do not take things into their own hands vs. 7,34
The great theologian, Matthew Henry once said;
“God does not always show his servants his way for a distance, but leads them step by step, as children are led.”

Loving Father, thank You for Your promise to catch us when we stumble as we delight in You.
Thank You for loving us so.
In Jesus Christβs most precious name, I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
