Beloved, this is a question that all of us believers in Christ should answer with discernment and self examination and awareness, if we are to grow in our faith walk with God.
The dictionaries define a godly person as someone who conform to the laws and wishes of God; devout; pious.
Synonyms for a godly person are good, righteous, holy, saintly, religious.
πππ ππ ππ ππππ ππ ππ πππ πππππ?
The Psalmist describes a godly person in Psalm chapter 1 and contrasts this person with an ungodly person towards the end of the chapter.
The Psalmist in Psalmsβ¬ β1β¬:β1β¬-β3β¬ βAMPβ¬β¬ enlightens us on the lifestyle of a godly person. He said;
βBlessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man [the person] who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example],
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers).
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And on His [Godβs] law [His [Godβs] precepts and teachings] he [the person] [habitually] meditates day and night.
And he [the person] will be like;
a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season;
Its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he [the person] does, he [the person] prospers [and comes to maturity].β

We also read in Jeremiahβ¬ β17β¬:β7β¬-β8β¬ βAMPβ¬β¬:
βBlessed [with spiritual security] is the man who;
believes and
trusts in and
relies on the Lord
And whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord.
For he [the person] will be;
[nourished] like a tree planted by the waters,
That spreads out its roots by the river;
And will not fear the heat when it comes;
But its leaves will be green and moist.
And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit.β

The Psalmist is stressing DISCERNMENT! Godliness is…
ππππππππ π¨π ππ‘π π π¨ππ₯π²(π―ππ«π¬π π): Godliness does NOT do that which the crowd deems important. Godliness does what God deems important.
πππππππ π¨π ππ‘π π π¨ππ₯π²(π―ππ«π¬π π) Godliness thrills in scripture consistently; it permeates every area of the personβs life.
ππππ πππππππ π¨π ππ‘π π π¨ππ₯π²(π―ππ«π¬π π) Compared to a tree planted by the stream of water, the godly person grows, glows and goes wherever the Lord leads.

The Psalmist contrasted the lifestyle of the ungodly in verses 4-6.
Psalmsβ¬ β1β¬:β4β¬-β6β¬ βAMPβ¬β¬ tells us
βThe wicked [those who live in disobedience to Godβs law] are not so,
But they are like the chaff [worthless and without substance] which the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand [unpunished] in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the Lord knows and fully approves the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked shall perish.β

Great and Mighty God, thank You for another day of life.
Lord, we come asking You to give us the grace to be godly in our daily living.
Help us to make choices to do what is important to You and not what is important to the crowd.
Holy Spirit, empower us to spend time in meditating on Your Word and precepts.
Help us dear Lord to enjoy the blessings of godliness.
By the grace and mercy of God, none of us will fall into ungodly living.
