~ GOD COMMANDS OBEDIENCE FROM US.
According to Dictionary.com, obedience is being compliant and submitting to the requests of someone in authority. God is the supreme authority. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving, and so on.
God knows what is best for us. After all, He created us and He loves us. It is obvious throughout the Bible that because of God’s love for us, He established laws and commands as a boundaries for the sinful nature we inherited when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command to not eat from the tree in the middle of the garden.
God’s heart toward us are for good, so are His commands. One of such commands for obedience are:
In Leviticus 22:31, God says “So you shall keep My commandments and do them; I am the Lord.”
Obedience is the primary way to show God that we love Him.
In John 14:15 AMP Jesus said that “If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments.”
Our humble response to the unconditional love that God has and continues to shower on us is to obey His commands.
1 John 2:3-4 AMP tells us;
”And this is how we know [daily, by experience] that we have come to know Him [to understand Him and be more deeply acquainted with Him]: if we habitually keep [focused on His precepts and obey] His commandments (teachings).
Whoever says, “I have come to know Him,” but does not habitually keep [focused on His precepts and obey] His commandments (teachings), is a liar, and the truth [of the divine word] is not in him.”
1 John 5:2-3 AMP “By this we know [without any doubt] that we love the children of God: [expressing that love] when we love God and obey His commandments. For the [true] love of God is this: that we habitually keep His commandments and remain focused on His precepts. And His commandments and His precepts are not difficult [to obey].”
Jesus is our main example when it comes to obeying God.
God the Father planned that His son was to die on a cross to pay the penalty for our sins, which does not make sense to our carnal mind. But we are told:
In Philippians 2:8 AMP that “After He (Jesus) was found in [terms of His] outward appearance as a man [for a divinely-appointed time], He humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
We can see from these scriptures and Jesus’ example that it pleases God when we obey His commands.
NOW LET US PRAY
Merciful God, thank You for loving us enough to give us directives and commands as guardrails to help us and protect our lives.
We know that You desire that we obey Your commandments.
Lord, we cannot obey You in our flesh. We need You to give us the grace and the guidance to obey Your commands. Holy Spirit help us. Father, be present with us at all times. Helps to be in Your will.
In Jesus Christ’s matchless name I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
