The first question that comes to mind is;
WHAT REALLY IS THE GLORY OF GOD?
A simple answer is that God’s glory is the expression or manifestation of His excellence.
Christopher Morgan, in an article in “The Gospel Coalition “ further explained that God’s glory is the magnificence, worth, loveliness, and grandeur of his many perfections. God communicates his glory through his creation, image-bearers, providence, and redemptive acts. God’s people respond by glorifying him. God receives glory and, through uniting his people to Christ, shares his glory with them. And all of this contributes to his glory, as God in his manifold perfections is exhibited, known, rejoiced in, and prized.
From these definitions, it’s easy to say just look around, and we will see the glory of God. However, in John 11:40, Jesus was very specific on what we needed to do in order to TRULY see God’s glory.
Talking to Martha, Lazarus’ sister, after He brought Lazarus out from the grave.
Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that IF YOU BELIEVE[in Me], you will see the glory of God [the expression of His excellence]?” John 11:40 (AMP).
In Psalms 19:1, we are told that “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” However, we must BELIEVE that God is the creator in order for us to see His glory in His creation.
Glory is also identified with Christ. It is linked to his incarnation
We are told in Hebrews 1:3 that “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”
IF WE BELIEVE, WE WILL SEE THE GLORY OF GOD.
LET US PRAY
Majestic God, thank You for keeping us until today. Jesus, we believe in You, help our unbelief so that we can see your glory. Help us on a daily basis to see the expression and the manifestation of Your excellence around us and in our lives.
Help us to believe that You are who You say You are, and that You will do what You say You will do. Help us to see Your glory, Lord! In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen
Have a blessed day
