The Wisdom of Obedience – Part 1

To become a Christian require complete obedience to the Word of God such as in Act 2:38. This is considered to be “a new birth” hence anyone who obey the gospel of Christ in repentance and baptism is considered a “born again” Christian.  God, the creator of ALL things, in his wisdom gave believers His will and commandments on how to successfully walk the Christian to believers in Christ to follow in His Word.

So many of us want to enjoy the promises of God, but are not willing to make the sacrifices required. Obedience is a sacrifice that many aren’t willing to make in order to enjoy the type of blessing that will be passed down to our children from generation to generation. Continued practice of obedience to the Word of God is necessary for a successful and abundant Christian life.
We have to be obedient to the word of God. We have to be willing to go where God instructs us to go and willing to do what He tells us to do. This blog explores God’s wisdom and purposes for laying out His will for those who choose to follow Him by giving their lives to Jesus Christ.
1. Obedience leads to Righteousness.
When we live our lives in obedience to God’s commands we attain righteousness as stated in Romans 2:13– “For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.” And I. Romans 6:16 – “Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? ”

2. Obedience leads to Purification.
Our souls experience purification with every act of obedience to the truths in the Word of God. See 1 Peter 1:22– “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.”

3. Obedience allow us to enjoy the presence of God.
John 14:23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

4. Obedience leads to Eternal life.
Because Of God’s love towards humanity, He wants us to inherit Eternal life when we choose to obey Him. John 8:51 states – “Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.”

5. Obedience leads to a life of blessings.
Abraham obeyed God and he was rewarded with blessings for his household for generations to come. Genesis 22:15-18 The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the Genesis 22:15-18 The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”
